Hi, I’m Janet Watson, I‘m also known as ‘Jay’.  I’m an experienced and highly skilled English Tutor, who consistently has excellent results with all young people and adult/older students.  I make considerable progress within all my lessons.

I am an excellent listener and communicator with very good organisational ability and team working skills. I have a refined passion and drive for English Language, Literature, and the Arts.

I enjoy teaching English Language and Literature and recognise the need for English Language as a universal language and a core subject in the educational field.  It also embraces the creativity that evolves from the reading and writing of various literature and literary texts.  I’m not the best when it comes to sitting down and reading a novel cover to cover, but enjoy writing poetry.  I’m slowly working my way back to reading for relaxation and enjoyment, as well as feeding my passion for continual learning.

My academical journey began with facilitating and teaching ‘Acting Techniques’ to adults who were working as extras in soap operas and other TV dramas.  I wanted to study for a degree and initially looked at studying for a BA in Performing Arts after successfully completing an HNC in Drama in the Community.  However, the restructure of the HE college resulted in me transferring to the English Department and 20 years later… with a first (BA) and second (MA) Degree in English, I am now running my own English Tutoring business.
